We went up to the one near Ouistreham to watch the fireworks along with an estimated 5,000 others, mostly French and obviously English but also many other nationalities. There was a swing band playing Glen Miller and a wonderful party mood as young and old gathered to enjoy the spectacle on a clear but chilly evening.
