The bare trees allow one to peak into hidden corners normally concealed by leaves and often make a stark foreground to a glorious sunset.

From mid-November onwards there is always a Marche de Noel to be found, providing plenty of opportunity for Christmas shopping with a difference.

The villages, towns and cities still bustle, especially in the build up to the festive season. In December the Christmas lights go up in even the smallest, most isolated communes. These make a wonderful sparkling display in the clear night air and with no light pollution the stars put on their own show.

When the snow falls it is magical and brings its own beauty to everything and is a time to wrap up warm and go for a walk and enjoy it before coming back to the welcoming open

fire at Le Bosquet for a well deserved warming drink .
